I think if you're going to make an MMO, tell people you're making an MMO, and let people buy what you're telling them will be an MMO... you should be working on making an MMO when designing your game. And the devs are still calling it an MMOTPS.
I've got waaaay more hours in this game, for 40 bucks, than I've had on many games costing 50-60 bucks. Even it's 'awful incomplete' state.
It isn't what was sold to me at the start true, but its still a fun game. I've had my founders worth from it but I probably play less than I would have if it met the original vision. I would much prefer an MMO and even more so that open world but it became clear quite quickly this wasn't going to be the case and that it was too ambitious. Such is the nature of founding or kickstarting something. One thing is certain, the BE team worked their asses off and did the best they could.
Massively Multiplayer Online. It's hard to argue that EC isn't meeting the second two so we're really just arguing over how many players it takes to call something 'massive'.
How is that game in any way comparable to EC? That game engine would probably take a dump if it had to do 20v20 players. Not to mention every area of that game was a 10 second walk through instance with a load to the next "zone". Bad.
Well I certainly got my 45$ bucks worth of entertainment out of this game, even when I have a spell of bad luck its still fun. So I don't feel betrayed, plus they never really said "no forever"on the open world thingy.
