I hate it. They're slow, they dodge badly.....and they look like LSM. Last night I was fighting against LSM, and while firing into melee (yeah, yeah, I know, I know) I saw one space marine go down and thought the one with his back to me was the enemy.....you can guess how that went. The red arrows above the enemies are easy to miss (though maybe for folks who've played CSM for a while, it isn't), and in heavy melee my thoughts are pretty much 'I DON'T KNOW WHO'S ON MY SIDE!'. Seriously......they're slow, and they dodge badly.....and their starting weapons are terrible vs eldar aspect warriors. Eldar ftw.
They actually get pretty good once they get marks and mods. Plus love my crazy Word Bearer preaching in battle... He is so devoted... Love the shouts about killing sinners and whatnot.
it's because you've gone from playing easy mode to hard mode, if you want to play ultra hard, jump onto LSM.... NOOB
This does not match my experience at all. Yes, switching faction can be a little rough to begin with before you learn how to adapt to their play style, but the starting weapons for CSM are fine with the exception of a lack of anti tank. Both the Bolter and Heavy Bolter are powerful anti infantry weapons in the hands of someone with half decent aim and the preset Raptor comes with 4 fuel for some real craziness. As mentioned above, CSM and to a lesser extent LSM both get much better as you unlock stuff for them, particularly in the advanced armour and weapon mods departments, and God Marks are a real game changer allowing you to fine tune your experience to your own play style. Want to play a tactical like an Eldar? Mark of Slaanesh. Want to hit and run or rapidly engage multiple targets one after the other? Mark of Tzeentch. The Marines dodge is a little slower than Eldar, yes, but compensates for it with significantly more iframes allowing you to roll into incoming fire and avoid a significant amount of damage whilst closing distance or moving into cover. Finally, the issue of shooting your own team really is, unfortunately, a "git gud" problem. Perhaps its harder than I give it credit for, having played a ton of the alpha when it was only LSM and CSM I can tell the difference with great ease, but honestly, if you're LSM shoot the guys with horns, if you're CSM shoot the guys without horns.
When I swapped to chaos for the first time I was really impressed with the default bolter setup. And the HB also racked up a suprising amount of kills. However I am back on shoota cuz he iz da greenest.
