@jbregg @Oveur one problem with the game is that when a bunch of teammates are approaching an elevator/lift platform, it will not wait for your allies. rather than adding in some complicated clunky button system, adding a short delay before the lift ascends would be a lot nicer.
That could work. Counter argument. You are being shot. You see a mag-lift. You run onto said mag-lift aaand....it sits there for a couple seconds.
maybe not a couple of seconds, usually it'd be good to have just .1-.2s breathing time. at the moment it's 100% instant. right now you HAVE to use 2 separate lifts, but just getting there together with a .1-.2s delay would mean you both get on before it starts ascending. .1s is still less than TTK.
This is actually a quality of life/game improvement that should be easy to implement. I approve. *elevators begin catapulting players across the map, freezing halfway up, and applying 128 damage every time you use them* Damn it.
Could add something to interact with like a control console so once you're on you hit 'E' and the lift goes up.
I've always hated the lifts... always seeing it take 1 guy 1st then everyone else is at the bottom looking at each other waiting to be taken up, or a couple of you trying to go up together and doing the "1,2 and GO!!" and then having latency screw the whole thing up. An activate button would help to make sure the squad or any other fella wanting up, stayed together.. instead of going up 1's and 2's. When proxy chat comes in .. we can always yell out "Hold the lift!"
nah too complicated. what i suggested would probably involve changing literally 1 thing, whereas a button system would involve probably taking the lair objectives and re-engineering them into a button that activates a separate object. do you know how i know E elevators aren't happening? there's cut content in tyranid horde beta with a button lift.
