magazines would work out better then having to reloud after every shot but the plasma pistol has a overheating meter so that shouldn't be a problem
Clip system, hands down. Primarily because I think that would make the guns feel the way they should. I don't want my bolter to work like your average FPS AR, pumping shots with little recoil, SOFT, DULL SOUND and reloading after every 3-4 bullet kills. I want to see even the most basic Bolt Pistols and Bolters operate like they are actually 40K guns - very loud, rough, unsubtle weapons. I want to feel like every round that I discharge is a heavy, devastating projectile and spraying out of control or wasting even a single round would mean dispersing that awesome power. I want to have to be aware of how many shots I have left in the clip so that after mowing down a group of charging orkz with my unholy bolter and scattering their advance I have to chose to risk reloading and risk being mobbed by the remaining stragglers, or take aim and carefully finish them off with precise fire...
for all heavy weapons such as heavy bolters or assault canons you would only have ONE HUGE clip (you're back pack) and I think eldar plasma weapons just overheat, in that case they would regularly need to wait until it cools down (they could do like in halo, a certain manoever that cools it down faster but they cant fire during that operation) I pretty much like that system were you could put back together several clip "parts", it would be more realistic but should take time (10 seconds or so) but should still not encourage people to reload all the time we should also be able to find ammo on dead brothers and be able to unload found weapons to use the clip that was inside (like in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.) finnally I'm glad you guys are all interested in this thread I hope behaviour will tke note about you're choices and ideas (94.4 % people want the clip system)
Maybe even MORE heavy and loud... Then again I've listened to that sound so SO much that I might be dulled to the overall effect. I just don't want the 40K guns to turn into generic brown FPS pop guns...
I don't think they would be reduced to generic FPS noises, since they devs behind this seem to care a great deal about keeping to the 40K universe. I'm not sure a clip system would work with the 40K background, since Bolter rounds for Astartes Bolters are considered sacred and wouldn't simply be discarded in favour of a full clip. The idea earlier than the half used clip is saved for use later would fit better for the clip system although, as much as I like the clip system from games like Black, an ammo system (reload = full ammo, none lost) might work best for the MMO.
may is suggest raising this in the game mechanics section so the devs see it. Would like this system to be put in place.
ok, that way we will gain visibility the idea is now on the Game and Level Design Production thread and has been updated
