Ama Followup - September 5th, 2014

    All buildings we have seen are either ruined buildings that have only few damaged walls standing, or are perfectly fine military structures. will there be "civilian" buildings that are not ruined, because it seems weird if there are absolutely no unbroken non-military structures on the whole planet?

    I will probably make a post some time rely describing the maps i would love to see.

    My other questions are. (maybe some of them are hidden suggestions)

    Q1: How long will the day/night cycle be? if Arkhonas day/night cycle is 24h like earth then some areas will always be day and some always night when you play. are you planing on making the cycle shorter/longer so if i play the same time each day it will be difrent lighting?

    Q2: What kind ow weather are you planing for Arkhona? we have seen dust storm but will there be snow, rain and others?

    Q4: Will the PvE be balanced so that you allways will be able to win or have you considerd making PvE areas that are so hard that it will take years for us to beat them? (i dont like the idea of always win, there is no chalange in that)

    1. Has the team thought about having Objective Markers appear on HUD only with the press or hold of a button so as not to clutter up the player's screen which could potentially block threats?
    2. Will vehicles take tiered damage (ie. slowed or disabled) and by extent go out of control (like in Dawn of War 2) when hit by a killing blow?
    3. Will we be able to exit vehicles in a desired area by looking in the direction we want to be before exiting? So as to properly use the vehicle for cover.
    4. Why are the cosmetic armor pieces such as the Eldar chest armors priced differently in the Rogue Trader?

  4. Q5 How much force is required to move 30 ton Rhino? i hope the flying Rhino is only because of Alpha?

    1. What about stretch goals? Will we have access to a list or something?
    2.Can you tell us more about pets.
    3.Is Arkhona already a ghost town planet or will we be about to see some civilians populations? Bonus points if protectable/killable/enslavable/eatable .

  6. Our vision of Arkhona is as a fortress world that's suffered under centuries of war. You may notice right now that we're only using a very small number of buildings total- all part and parcel of being pre-alpha. As we iterate forwards I'm sure you'll see more battle damage on military structures. Most surviving civilian structures have either been heavily reinforced or entirely repurposed by the military. A former librarium now serving as a command station? Entirely possible!


    It's actually much better than it was! ;)

    No fear, we will tweak this repeatedly until launch.


    It's not a ghost town planet- the armies of four races are battling over it! However, after centuries of war, it's very much a fortress world. Any surviving civilian buildings are heavily reinforced or repurposed.

    ... To hazard a guess, I'd say it's unlikely we'll have civilian NPCs in the game.

    No answers forthcoming (at this time) that relate to the story in any way - this includes civilian populations, Arkhona's weather, professional Arkhona sports teams, or any other way you can think of to try and sneak a question about the story and the planet into the mix ;)

    Except for this:

    Arkhona is a warn-torn Imperial planet in the Kharon system. Four Armies, each comprised of five subfactions, are making their way there. Why they're going, and what they hope to find there? That you'll have to wait and see.

    dancing alien grass comes to mind...

    that aside, will weapons be made more powerful/combat less forgiving ? i heard somewhere that for example a lascannon needs 3 hits to the rear armour of a predator to kill it. considering the sheer firepower vehicles can bring to bear against infantry, wouldnt it be unfair to make vehicle weakpoints that tough.
