Greetings! I have recently been getting into the 40k universe with the video games and books (DoW II and Horus Heresy). I would like to try out the tabletop game but it's not worth the cost for me, yet. I think this all began when I did some research on the Emperor of Man and found myself liking for what he stood for. Not to mention chainswords, power-fists, heavy-bolters, and thunder hammers appeal to my inner warrior. Yet, I love slinging spells and summoning creatures from beyond or calling down the fury of a meteor shower. I don't normally care for playing elves but I am still conflicted due to my love of magic. Thus begs the question in the title.
Greetings, and welcome to the forums! It's always nice to see new fans of 40k willing to learn new stuff. In regards to Eldar lore, I'd personally recommend the Path series by Gav Thorpe, as they give the best (read, only) proper view of Eldar Society. And while they are all psychic to a certain extend, they are not all running around with psychic powers, and they would especially not be summoning stuff from the Warp, as they are one of the primary forces against Chaos. You should look more into the Aspect warriors to see other options beyond just the Seers.
@Dolor and Brighteyes - I am amazed at how fast you both came up those. Well done. Am I correct in my understanding that Aspect Warriors are but a step into becoming a Seer?
