All craftworlds that are accompanied by the special hero Illic Nightspear can take pathfinders.. But he is specifically stated to be a heroic Alaitoc Ranger and the pathfinders that he unlocks are even called in his description 'Alaitoc Pathfinders' - It's pretty clear. Also when the Alaitoc codex comes out you can totally expect Pathfinders to be an Elites choice.. They were even first introduced in the Alaitoc section of the Eldar Craftworlds codex. Maugan Ra on the other hand has been a core Eldar unit since second edition and the fluff about his origin was developed after the fact, and besides neither he, nor the other phoenix lords should be playable as they're unique characters, so mentioning him as a 'special' unit for Altansar is a non starter. But still they had special rules in the Saim-Hann section of the Eldar Craftworlds codex - they are a special troop unique to Saim-Hann based on jetbikes, just as pathfinders are based on rangers and the Black Guardians are based on guardians e.t.c. Basically all the special craftworld specific units are 'just' a standard Eldar unit with bells and whistles to show off that craftworld's particular specialism - but that doesn't make them any less distinct, and it's exactly this sort of flavour unit that can be used as inspiration to create special units in EC.
Wow... I'm actually amazed at the results for this poll. Sure Altansar hve this mystery about them but I don't know what to do if they won't have Alaitoc. I was hoping to roleplay an Outcast Ranger from Alaitoc
Frankly I'd be amazed if the final racial poll (the official one that is) isn't massively for Alaitoc, it's the 5th of the core GW craftworlds after-all. This poll on the other hand is highly self selecting and can't really be taken as an accurate indication. The main 5th faction poll is a far better indicator IMHO.
God damn it... misclicked and voted Alaitoc... The truth is, I would love the less known craftworlds to be developed, Altansar included. Although, I voted Iybreasil in the other thread.
Sorry, gotta vote for Alaitoc for reasons many have already posted in this thread. I mean, who cares about Altansar when you have Alaitocii Eldar all over the place? They're awesome, they're determined, they're here to kick some serious mon-keigh ceramite bottoms. Count me in.
I do. I just can't stand Alaitoc's(and Iyanden's) colour scheme. Blue and yellow are colours you just don't mix. It's heretical.
