first thing that caught my eye was that its still 2 years away i suppose i could look over todays paper again
unless you're a sergeant or other character that can, you shouldn't have a chainsword. i'd hate it if every tactical had a chainsword, they should have combat blades.
To me it looks like its headed in the right direction and im glad we were able to see were its at in its pre alpha state so early in development
Combat looks indeed slower than Space Marine, certainly on purpose since devs stated they wanted longer time to kill than SM, which is not a bad idea cause lots of people were quite surprised by the unforgiving brutality of the fast paced SM combat, specifically at first hand whereas the movements seem very slow and clunky. Overall it's quite good to me, just models seem a little too close to oldish miniatures, especially chaos chosen, which gives a slight cartoonish feeling. Maybe they should inspire themselves from the lastest miniatures to have a more appealing design. Moreover weapons seems too big in marines hands, considering guardmen can use one it would look as a heavy bolter in their hands, chainsword looks quite broad the same and too big for a 7 feet tall super human. There's a lack of something more... personal in those models, something truely BI home made in models design, something which could allow to know in one shot that you're watching EC. Anyway this is a pre alpha prototype, this is excellent work so far with lots of infos : so go go, my money is hot and ready to be spent
Well for ten weeks of production it is pretty amazing , bless isha/theEmpra/nurgle/khorne/slaneesh/tzeentch/gork/mork !
The first thing I noticed was how good it looked for beta, the fact that it is in alpha makes that even more amazing. But than I noticed the crappy "armor" system that was used in the Space Marine game. Armor should be effective no matter how many people hit you, and not be a regenerating energy shield. After bringing that up in another thread though I was reassured that it was only a place holder by Miguel Caron. So I'm not worried, it looks like we may have real armor in EC instead of everyone in energy shields. This level of communication is just impressive, and if they can keep it up will set new standards for a game company. (IMHO)
For Chaos it would make sense actually, because Chaos armor is often a thing of the warp and often grants the user powers, and in some cases may even be sentient; I really don't know how they would justify it for Space Marines. I never had an issue with how SM did it, but I do see were it could be a lore killer. But if you would turn it off you would have to increase the role of armor conditioning in the game, and that gets complicated once you throw in Orks and Eldar, who have different kinds of armor (or none at all). Of course for all we know, armor may work differently depending on how we spec into our characters. So there is always that route.
