I don't think the developers would even contemplate adding Ordinatus weapon arrays because they're classified as Super Weapons on the par of Emperor Class Battle Titans. That and they're super rare, not to mention one has been destroyed recently, two are in the Armaggedon War Fleet, and three other ones are either in a state of repair or not capable of being fielded.
@OP: The Adeptus Mechanicus is overall split into uncountable cults, covens, sects, alliances, factions... Combine that with with dozens of possible troops. And I think it would be a bad idea to add AM as a semi-combat faction. You know what techpriests do when they are not in battle? They screw, they solder, they weld, they study blueprints. Would you like to play a character whose job it is to assemble a bunker? Or to replace wrecked armour on a Rhino? Or tending the electronics of a gun-emplacement?
Give them a pet Skitarii....? Pets are nothing new to gaming. Or access to combat servitors. Think Borderlands 2 turrets.
this is off topic but made me giggle, could the Adeptus Mechanicus supply us with angry space marine launchers
I think, pets have been ruled out... Anyway. The problem is that troop-availability depends very much on the standing of the particular Mechanicus-faction, so there is no accepted standard. (Not even among Skitarii. There are at least 4 different kinds of basic infantry in the novels.) My proposal: First, Techmarine+Servitors. Then, introducing the IG with Enginseer+Servitors. Then, maybe, an AM Explorator-Fleet (containing various kinds of troops from various factions in fealty to the Archmagos) that decides to meddle on Arkhona for some reason.
We can have an idea of the differents classes of the adeptus mechanicus. We can find an inspiration in the forge world's minifigurines. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/The_Horus_Heresy/Mechanicum/Mechanicum_Troops?filter_reset=1 http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/The_Horus_Heresy/Mechanicum/Mechanicum_Elites?filter_reset=1 Well, this guys are from the HH, but it is an idea. I see the adeptus mechanicus added to SM, and the Dark mechanicum to CSM.
If you read the previous posts by users, we've already covered the infantry classes of the Skitarii Legions which would be the main classes if implemented. Tech-Priests dedicated to combat are classified as heroics because they're much rarer and deadlier than even a Praetorian Reductor.
Okay, just a quick rundown of Mechanicus-troops I remember and that are suitable for EC: - Skitarii Hypaspistes (variously described as cultist-equivalent, IG-equivalent, Techpriest-equivalent or SM-equivalent) - Skitarii Sagitarii (heavy weapons squad) - various Secutors (Myrmidons, Corpuscarii...) - Electropriests - various assassin-cults - Thallax (Ordo Reductor and others) - Siege Dreadnought (Ordo Reductor) - Robots (Legio Cybernetica) - Ursarax (Explorator-Fleets and others) - Mechanicus Protectors - Adsecularis - various standardized Servitors (Herakli, Praetorians (There might be two different troop-types, Praetorians and Praetorian Servitors.)...) - various non-standardized Servitors And to that we add various tanks, some of those exclusive to the Adeptus Mechanicus. And maybe Knights. How many troop-types is that by your count?
Well, why I didn't see such thread before? Since in this game are vehicles a technician class should be there! I know that all of you have talked about adding whole Ad Mech units, building outposts and others, but I think that "hey, we need a guy who can fix that tank for us" is a proper reason to add Techpriests, Warpsmiths, Bonesingers and Meks. Of course option with building fortifications (even simple aegis defence line) is cool, but think about this simple, basic option.
