The lack of movement told Judarius that his transport driver was waiting for orders from the lead vehicles in the column. He had no intention of allowing this inaction to herald his demise. If the others would not act, then he would. Turning to his quartet of Protectors, he issued curt orders in binary. [Command: Engage hostile creature. Terminate with extreme prejudice. Draw creature away from the convoy] he ordered. [Acknowledged, Magos-Errant] was their unanimous reply. Engaging the manual release on the rear exit hatch, they stormed out of the vehicle's hold, weapons trained on their target. They unleashed controlled bursts of lasfire on the creature, as they maneuvered to draw it's attention away from the idle convoy. Judarius extended a mechadendrite and sealed the hatch behind them. He did not expect them to survive the encounter, but their lives were sacrifices he was more then willing to make. [Magos-Explorator! We need to get moving. We cannot remain here!] He pleaded, via a noosphere message. @Jorimel
Spoiler you do know this "convoy" is only two vehicles and you are in the one that got out of the way right? The Tech guard's shots managed to hit three of the thornbacked beasts that where in the front of the herd in their legs which caused them to be trampled by the rest of the herd. With it's leaders gone the herd dispersed with it's members going in all directions but avoiding where the sound of the shots had come from and the bipedal creature that was chasing them. The predator seemed to be satisfied with the three trampled bodies and began to stab one with it's beak as if it were drinking something out of it's body.
Lazarus looked to the outside spotting the creature as it began to try attempt to make a course towards there convoy on a intercept path knowing he could not fire within his vehicle he looked to his companion beside him Fyre. "Fyre to divert this beast with either your last pistol or use of Telepathic or telekinetic powers, Do not use fire this time, Possibility of damage the convoy is high with the use of pyrotechnic low grade lighting though is approved." Lazarus said as he looked to her. "Got it sir, lets see if I can hit it with just the view." She said closing her one eye she began focusing her power at the beast trying to attempt to contact its mind reaching out trying to touch it she had one thing to use. She began to well all of her fears in her head starting to make her sweat. Thoughts of being, burned alive, tortured by the tau, Tossing ones sight. all these fears she then... and then beast went down and the heard dispersed. Now she had a bunch of thoughts of fear and her mind and no target. Now clenching her teeth she looked to the dispersing horde and attempted to put in there mind the thoughts to fear them and not try to go after them in the future or any other mechincum agents here. letting it out she let out a sigh and wiped the sweat from her head. missing her order from the inqusitor. "Well that could have been a tad less messy if using low power las beams could have just frightened the beast." Lazarus said as they drove path collecting data on how some of the creatures began drinking the others bodies.
[OOC I was the second to respond, with this: "Evasive action. If we do not have the speed to outrun the hred, make for higher ground, or find something solid like a rocky outcrop to shelter behind - they should part around a large enough obstacle." Which is a pretty obvious get the fuck out of Dodge. So I'm going to assume not that we were waiting around but pretty much simultaneous action, if that's all right? I gave the order to move as quickly as I saw that there was danger. I hope this doesn't come across as spiky, it's not meant to be I think the only reason we didn't move immediately is we were waiting for other PCs' actions Does this make sense? I don't want people thinking my girl is sitting around ignoring danger.] Orders for evasive action already in place, she sent quickly to her fellow Xenarite, as reassuringly as she could under the circumstances.
Ohm can sense changes in the atmosphere, danger, action. Alien herd stomping, weapons machine spirits unleashing their wrath, vehicles spirits squeezing more power out of their engines, people shouting orders. Life force in motion. The Luminen builds up more charge as he starts to sink into the religious frenzy, electro-coil on his back whirling louder. Sparks move towards his gauntlets more frequently, electoos lighting up.
With the immediate threat distracted, Judarius' Protectors fell back to the Salamander and climbed aboard once again. Returning to their seats, they once more awaited their master's orders. [Acknowledged, my Lady-Magos] Judarius intoned. [Exoneration: Forgive my rash actions, but I feared for the safety of our personnel] Judarius was set at ease for the moment, as the Salamander rumbled onward. They would reach their objective soon enough. No doubt, the others may disapprove of his rash assault, but he was hardly concerned with the death of a few local fauna. Their lives were even less relevant to him then his own Protectors. He'd gladly extinguish all bio-life on this backwater world if it meant they would reach the vault sooner.
With the situation quelled and the predator busy "eating" the trampled corpses the small convoy gets moving agian. On their way to the sea they spot many more of these creatures performing similar hunts it is quite obvious the predator is a very common animal found on the world. Just as the sun began to set they found themselves at the edge of a wasteland small pools of what looked like a galtenous material littered the landscape and large creatures that have some sort of translucent sack attached to their body roamed the area. Spoiler The compass and dataslates aboard each vehicle flickered and read that they are in the correct location.
"Interesting, These xeno creatures and the landscape, I have never seen any like it in my time. Hopefully we can grab several samples of the environment to see what this world is composed of to help us get around." The inqusitor said as he looked out seeing the gelatinous sea and the creatures that reminded him of odd fish.
Law looked around with a wary eye. He was eyeing specifically the xenos for any more dangers. Since they were in the right location, he off loaded and got his weapon ready. He also looked for a location nearby that provided a good overlook.
The communication expert started assessing the area, looking if there was perhaps a good area for deploying the first Vox-Relay. The soil had to be firm and the air free of too extreme wind speeds, along with a nice and steady magnetic system, so it wouldn't scramble the system. Not knowing whether the sun gave off solar storms or not, was a bit troubling, but surely smaller void shields or such could help with those in the future. Or alternate shielding for the tower material. His eyes scanned the area, only focused on building conditions no foes or other natural dangers. @Jorimel "Excuse me, but could you perhaps take another sample here? I would like to start the plans for the first vox-tower, but I am just not sure whether my eyes lie to me or not regards the soil quality. Your instruments should do quite the trick for me, if you would be so nice." The blonde Erin inquired with a soft smile.
