Ok first of all, most people use W and S aswell, it is more intuitive and fluid. At least thats what I observed in other games, cant say I have been on the lookout here. Secondly it really depends on the game type. For a cover-based shooter you would undoubtly be correct, strafing should be at a minimum, but this is not a cover-based shooter. And it wouldn't really fit the lore well if it was (unless we all become imperial guardsmen). So, for a non-cover-based shooter, this mechanic is pretty healthy. It encourages more active gameplay, movement and aim. It adds another layer of difficulty. Technically, what EC would be without strafing is a pure DPS-race, assuming most people are capable enough to hit a non-moving target in the open field. The reason why strafing is less prominent in many titles is because they are cover based, because maps are often much bigger and built for longer range engagements with a ton of more cover, props, plants and shit that already increase the time-to-kill. Also because those games often invest in more realistic weapon mechanics like bullet drop and travel time. However one thing that should be available out of principle is firing whilst sprinting. Thats what space marines do!
Disagree completely. But on the subject of "Bunny Hopping". It was a practiced skill that pushed games to a new level much like rocket/grenade jumping.
u adad in counterstrike thats super important lol and yes you can even do it while fullspraying. way more percise tho is crouch spray in A or D direction
On one hand, this is clearly cheeze. On the other, this is something SM or Eldar would actually do in lore, move fast to avoid getting hit and use superior reflexes and accuracy, always staying on the move to put off enemy aim.
Literally the most trash thread I've ever seen. Get good. But sure, why not get rid of ADAD strafe, right along with headshots, let's just remove any skill the game has. Fuck yeah! You realize weapons would also have to be re-balanced right? The stalker bolter for example would need a ROF & damage increase to make up for the bodyshot kill-time (5 shots at 100rpm usually) and the same goes for plasma & stormbolter-type weapons. Implementing anything like this would be such a waste of resources just because a few bad players can't adapt to playing the game in a more skillful manner, and what a fucking surprise, it's the same awful players who suck at melee. PS. Regardless of how shit you were at it, bunnyhopping was, is and always will be a legitimate skill to separate bad players from the good.
