.... you just keep right on ADAD strafing vs charging melee because its REAL effective and so OP vs melee. Calling for balancing range vs range is hardly calling for ranged nerfs. Calling for proper advantages when firing from a stationary position behind cover is hardly asking for nerfs to range. If you like the cheese you like the cheese. I wont fault you for that. Many do not though. When ADAD strafing in the open with a bolter is more effective than shooting from cover with a bolter that's a problem because it's just not logical. That and the fact that BHVR has been all about telling us to use that cover. The cover that they spent all that time developing and implementing. There are hundreds if not thousands of various spots to shoot from cover on almost every single object in world, all undone or nullified versus the cheese ball opponent that's head shotting you in your cover and you cant hit them because of internet lag, net code, server issues when they're pulling this ADAD garbage. That and ADAD strafing with a fully auto bolter makes it unrealistically difficult to combat when using semi automatic Stalker Bolter or Plasmagun. Out of curiosity I'd like to hear the reasons why we should keep such an archaic and cheesy game mechanic. Reasons other than personal insults and bringing melee into a ranged vs ranged discussion.
ADAD strafing isn't required in "fast paced shooters". I've played Battlefield for years and it's very fast paced without ADAD strafing being possible or effective on most weapons systems.
You seem to be under the assumption I'm not decent at the game, and that I need to cheese it to get anything done. But now that you've recapped (what you've probably already said before), I can see where you are coming from. But removing or making strafing worse is just going to make playing ranged a huge pain. If the cover system wasn't half assed then maybe people would hunker down more. Or if cover wasn't useless. I can't count how many times I've had a lascannon hit me through a wall a second or two after I peeked out.
Just because someone disagrees with you does not mean they do so out of self interest. Furthermore, ignoring what someone says just to continue your own point is not an effective debate strategy.
Battlefield is not fast paced. Quake is fast paced. Dirty Bomb isn't very fast paced but is more ADADADADAD shooter.
The first CoD came out in October 2003, less than 14 years ago, and I severely doubt it had too much cheese for anybody considering it grew to be THE most popular first person shooter of our time.
I was active duty for 16 years and couldn't stomach most shooters. Didn't have the time to play most. Played Halo on deployment with the boys because WTF why not it's funny(rockets only) and fun. Doing it IRL then seeing cheese in the shooter games ruins most shooters for me personally. I recall my first COD game playing as a Russian fighting in Berlin. I think. Who knows. Maybe it wasn't CoD. I tried COD again around 06 or 08 on my nephews rig and hated it. The only shooters i've been able to play with some level of enjoyment have been the Medal of Honor series and Battlefield. I played some game WWII "the march for saint CAritan?" where you controlled your little squad. That's one shooter I liked. Red Orchestra was okay. I loved MOH Warfighter. It's too bad EA fucked over the lead producer and pretty much pulled the plug as soon as the game was released. All the gamer magazines, IGN and all the websites hated MOHW because it wasn't COD. All my buddies that did the shit IRL loved it. Go figure. ARMA 3 of course is in the mix. It's hard to take and difficult to stomach seeing proper marksmanship techniques being punished. Be a cool customer by "gasp" taking the time to actually aim down your sights while using proper marksmanship techniques(kneeling, prone, supported from cover) and being punished? Meanwhile some cheese ball is having a seizure all over the room and out shooting me while I'm in cover picking my shots with a semi auto plasmagun or stalker? Fuck that. Are you kidding me? Why do I love WH40K? Why do I play EC in lieu of some of these cheese ball game mechanics? Becoming an Adeptus Astartes is the next evolutionary step for any modern day warfighter IMO. AFter doing this stuff IRL for so many years what can you strive towards? What in your life will ever come close or compete with that? Nothing really. Or... fucking chainsword and bolter baby. Post human, bring it on. So I get a bit salty seeing cheesy ass mechanics in EC. Guilty as charged. I think we can do better and still have a really great game that captures the feel of a realistic combat experience while also being a blast.
