I mean when you customize your character,if you change the parts of the amours, will you gain or lose some specific skills or effects?
I doubt that greatly. From my understanding cosmetic customization is exactly as it sounds; purely cosmetic. It would be, imo, a terrible idea to start tying stats and effects in with certain ornamental armor pieces.
The idea has been tossed around a bit. The basic idea is that they will have stat variants, basically, specific things for specific armor types. I'm for just leaving them as cosmetic so we can have the freedom to customize our armor as we wish, stats and all that is just adding another layer of technicality which isn't needed in the game, especially considering the amount of changes and setbacks already going on.
Dont know if you played Starwars the old republic,I really like the customization of it.You can chose what ever amours or uniforms you like, they dont effect your skills directly. If you wanna improve your skills, just simply attach some skill parts on them, the parts dont changed the appearance so you can still have your unipe customization.
I hope that we have sets of basic armor pieces with different stats and from these a huge variety of different cosmetic options. I wish we can get power armor pieces from MkII to MkVIII and e.g. MkIII is the toughest armor version on the front side but weaker at the back, the MkII armor allows more flexibility maybe it tweaks a little bit your movement speed, MkVI might be more silent or since its beak helmet has more autosenses gives more information on the HUD etc etc. And for all these there might be master crafted pieces and hundreds of different details. The potential is huge concerning all four factions. I hope the Devs take their time with that and present us a good system.
Refer to my above statement. Adding more systems to the game is going to get it nowhere, already 2 years into development and we are not really seeing too much improvement, I'd rather they spend that time making sure everything else is working correctly. Not to mention the amount of imbalances that could occur.
Of course all of this is part of the far flung future, again, soon to be, soon being relative. Currently, from what I've understood, seen, heard, etc. it's similar to Space Marine, base idea that is, where you have the cosmetic customization and then your actual loadout. Your loadout can have cosmetic effects, say having the Power Sword and the Plasma Pistol from the rogue trader, they will have different stats and looks, but the Champions Pauldrons and Mrk3 Chesplate will be, as of current info, cosmetic. However it has been brought up there will be certain items that carry effects with them, I believe purity seals were mentioned, but I don't recall of these are just items that fit into loadout, fit into "cosmetic"(at that point it'd be more of a loadout thing, but I can't claim to know the overall plan), or if they are part of the talent/trait system, where you can select a trait, giving you a cosmetic piece to accompany it as well, and maybe this allows for multiple traits and then a cap on these traits, while still making you look good in the process. It'd be hard to believe that every last piece would have an effect, if I recall there are seventy or so anchor points for customization(still can't remember, it was about three or four twitch streams ago), so let's say 30 are part of loadout because of various, customizable, weapons and certain classes having more weapons then others, etc., then the remaining 40 are other things. Honestly I'd prefer the latter idea where picking certain traits/skills/talents has a cosmetic change as well, if wanted, so it keeps you from having an overwhelming degree of customization, beyond the already intended system, but for those who like the different look it'll still be there to select if you want the different armour, but maybe it'd be just fooling myself. An example, let's say I'm a shield bearing assault marine, I take a skill that increases my health and one that increases my shields resist or whatever, now my armour can look like a Mrk3, Mrk8, or let it look my default, customized, armour(that's were I'm not sure how much customization will go into it, could have cooler looking armour customized on our own versus the talent one, but maybe it'd be more appealing to newer players?), all of which have the same effect, based on the skill, but it can look different, while the shield maybe gets a different design or something. I guess I'm sorta basing it off of how the devs explained the Chaos "tree" where you have the four branches and you can invest in certain things which will also make your character look more like one way versus the other, i.e. invest in Khorne you're poweraxe turns into a chainaxe, invest in Nurgle, your armour starts decaying. Well, good luck reading all that....even though I put this at the end, so good job instead. Just rough thoughts by the way.
If we are talking perks that can improve armor-style stats, then sure, but the armor having specific stats is just going to through out a lot of the balance and kinda ruin the flow of the game. With the amount of stuff that needs to go into the game at launch, working on armor stats would be the last thing to want to do.
I did play SWTOR. I don't mind having stat altering items that can be attached to armor. I just don't believe in armor with specific stats unless you can change the cosmetics of them at will. Forcing me to look one way in order to have specific stats is annoying IMO.
