There's another way to do it. There's 2 controls you need: Aim/Lock Hold Aim/Lock Toggle Hold will be for what you use for normal ironsights with stuff like shootas Toggle is for melee lock and smart pistols HOWEVER if you press HOLD then TOGGLE, you will get pistol iron sights. It's a really roundabout way to do it but using only these 2 allows you to have access to everything. There's a bug where Just aim only works for pistol and not for rifle, so you have to use just the Aim/Lock combos. If you're unsure just go to the Garrison one of the skulls up the stairs by the chasm used for long range shots has to tooltip and will show just those two. If you have your bindings set up right they'll appear. I personally use Middle Mouse button for Hold and a Thumb mouse button for Toggle.
So that some day we can akimbo it and run around with double pistols while using them as clubs for melee manuvers.
personally I prefurr the "big soddin hero" slab slugga, not only for its lore value as a status symbol, but also for the fact that (when i remember i HAVE it) it's a good bit ov dakka to have, just stand back in a melee and headshot marines with it, instead of stoopidly hitting another ork in the back trying to hit the marine he's fighting, only "so" many boyz can get choppy at once after all.
Interesting. *runs to switch pistols and test* As to OP, slab or dakka but I use zip on my rokkit lad for the fear factor.
The believe the niche of the Six Shoota is supposed to be spike damage. With the fastest fire rate and the fastest reload the idea is that while it might do less total damage that the other 50LP pistols, it pumps out all of its damage VERY quickly. Think of using it like "Fan the Hammer" where you're supposed to unload all 6 shits very fast and close range. I think of it like this: Slab Slugga, long range high damage Dakka Slugga, mid range consistent damage Six Shoota, close range, burst damage If I could get a smart pistol mod on a six shoota I'd probably use it more for my melee classes as I could unload its damage much better and the fast reload would be possible to get reloads in during micro breaks during a fight.
I've had success with the six shoota as supplemental damage after hitting someone in melee to finish people off. But in general effectiveness, the plain 'ol Slab Slugga is pretty friggin' good. In this game in general I shy away from heavy damage guns because they're way more punishing when you miss. and you miss a lot because of teleporting etc with the netcode being what it is. You'd have to miss 2-3 shots with the six shoota to account for one missed shot with the Slab Sluigga
