Everyone calling for a delay seems to forget that time equals money, and delaying might push them over budget. That's not going to happen at this stage. They worked last weekend, which means they are in crunch time, which is the final rush to get everything done. 14hr days, forget about seeing your family, etc. That means there is no time to delay, because there is no room in the budget to delay.
The number of people still actively following development are not enough to fund a dev studio for even a couple weeks unless we all take out a few mortgages.
Pretty much. This sad story has been going on since 2007. Dark Millennium went through a lot of shit, then it got cancelled, only to be resurrected by Miguel as our current game. At least that was the initial idea. But they are developing it since 2013 and all they have is a average lobby shooter. This is the curse of the WH40K MMORPG. Let's just release and be done with this whole thing, for better or worse.
Well, people are pushing for a delay to early 2017. Since they said Summer 2016, thatwould be a 3 month delay. 3 months wages for 45 coders. They need to hit release before they run out of cash. The only way to drum up more cash now would be for them to put the game on sale, and spread the word about it. I recommended that before this debacle, and everyone shot me down because they said it would devalue their purchase.
Personally I'd still play it as long as it ends up a decent lobby shooter with a stable 60 FPS on my machine. Lets be honest, there aren't many lobby shooters out there with the W40K theme so might as well accept what it is and hope that they improve on the idea of a lobby shooter and make it a good one by expanding on the idea in the future.
The way I see it, if the devs say "It's official, Eternal Crusade is now a lobby shooter forever", what it really means will be "RIP Eternal Crusade, the game is dead." Of course, from what I've been seeing it looks like the game is DOA anyway, so I'm not saying it won't happen, I'm just saying it won't be *good* news.
Apologies. I only want whats best for the game and i misinterpreted what was said. I think i'll just bow out of the forums and play the game because i know whats coming next.
Meh. Even if it's a total lobby shooter it doesn't mean the game won't move on from that. It's just that having it ONLY be a lobby shooter makes it a discredit to the overall goal and selling point of the game. Settling for less when it's still possible to retain even a fraction of the MMO feeling.
Let's be completely honest here. If they don't fix the abomination of a melee system before launch it won't make a bit of difference if it's a lobby shooter or an MMO. Because it's gonna fuckin' dieeeeeeeee young.
