Not even sure where this thread came from I haven't seen anybody even using it lately. Both against and as Chaos. Plenty of regular autocannons though. Whatever just don't touch my baby the Teeth of Khorne.
AC is actually sortof managable now. There seems to be some sort of aiming delay so they cant just spin 180 degrees instantly on the head of a pin. Spread increase per shot is fairly significant so if they just keep on spamming the weapon is real easy to avoid. Its the standard Bolter which feels like it hits just as hard as an AC with more agility with its aim and more accuracy that's the real problem.
Before this thread gets locked I'm just going to weigh in my usual views: 1) Chaos should not have the plasma cannon AND the autocannon. TT had this down nicely: one faction gets S7 Heavy 2, the other faction gets S7 Heavy 1 Blast. 2) The issue is not the autocannon being OP, I don't think it really is anymore. The issue is not Failbaddon's Disgrace getting the fire effect, not anymore now that they took it down from a 2-hit kill to a 3-hit kill. The issue is not even that CSM get a "jack of all trades" Havoc weapon (It shoots gitz! It cracks boxes! It slices, dices, and makes julienne fries!) The issue is that it's a symbol. It's a symbol of the larger issue In the kind of situations where people are raging about the autocannon, the autocannon isn't the reason they lost. They lost because they didn't identify or capitalize on the number one thing,THE NUMBER ONE THING that wins this game: stay inside, stay upstairs. Teamwork OP? Yeah right, give me a way to force newbies -- you know, the scapegoat for bad teamwork in this meta -- to stay inside and upstairs for once in their lives, and I will give you an impregnable defensive position And if an autocannon is inside and upstairs it will happily demonstrate WHY. THAT'S why Failbaddon's Disgrace gets all the constant hate even now that it's not actually OP anymore One might argue that LSM get the grav-cannon while CSM get the autocannon... but let's face it, that thing was NEVER going to translate faithfully to a video game. On TT it's basically "point at unit, remove unit". So for video game they made it the LSM version of "everyone else on my team can kill this guy easier" (see also Asp Sorcs and Warlocks)... in a game where NOBODY uses that mechanic. Nobody uses Jinx, nobody uses the CSM version of Jinx, and very few people use the grav-cannon for anything other than killing Wave Serpents
OP: If you haven't, make a quick CSM char with AC and play a bit. Criticism of balance becomes a lot more accurate that way.
Oh, this is delicious. Remember the last time you all vehemently cried for nerf of AG? That's the glorious nerf that rendered Crozius, Flickering Fire and that zipper lascannon (what's it's name, searing light?) in the crappy state they are. Because certain portions of the LSM whined and whined and whined about the fire debuff... Getting it messed up by the devs who don't seem to know what they were doing and left the AG in exactly the same state it was before... Because newsflash, as many even back then have pointed out, the fire debuff was nothing to write home about. So a nerf was whined into existence that rendered 3 other weapons in a shitty state/borderline useless (two of which actually belong to the faction that cried for the nerf most vehemently). Dear LSM, be careful what you whine for, you might receive what you ask for.
In fairness, that's in large part because Enhance is a more reliable advantage to friendlies than Jinx, that doesn't require you to expose your flimsy healbot to return fire.
This is pretty good explanation. People are in reality raging about camping (best done inside and upstairs haha), but they see the AC being the king of the moment and direct their hate there (some also still harbor hard feelings from when AC was genuinely OP a while back).
