How did you miss that period of time when they had those pauldron "Wings" when engaged in melee? That was the visible buff that engaged after first melee contact.
"I'm saying that he could've gotten the same number of kills with a bolter based on the ttk of the kills shown" arent you implying melee is as viable as ranged here? "we need to look at what happens when you don't get to attack a room full of people from behind and they all react poorly" Melee should not be thought of as a counter to ranged. Melee is an alternate play style. A balanced fight dosent involve equal melee vs equal ranged ... it involves an equal mix of both. Also a balanced fight is something youll never find in any pvp game. It is hypotherical.

I don't know why your bolded points are there, since I didn't suggest the opposite. Let me try again. 1) RPS System is broken and is easily avoided entirely. 2) The video doesn't show RPS system. It shows attacking people from behind. Attacking people from behind doesn't involve rps system, just different amounts of damage and speed per attack. Since the video doesn't touch on the topic, it isn't a valid counter argument. I understand that Eldar don't have bolters, which is why I mentioned the dire avenger comparison and also that I'm not sure where it is at right now when compared to the bolter, which is what I'm familiar with.
I misunderstood some then . RPS system is broken. Agreed... Dbash interactions are outright ignored by FAs and the likes. oh I agreed the video wasnt much in terms of evidence.
As the main complaint seems to be dbash + bolter is to easy/wins to much how about we ask for a damage drop off at close range for bolt weapons, i'm sure we can come up with some pseudo-science about how the bolt hasn't had time to arm/speed up to armor penetrating speed etc I will admit I am dying a bit more now as a melee to close range fire (dude downs me just as i'm swinging at him) but i'm blaming lag for that more than the entire melee system being broke (although as I have said elsewhere axes/maces do need a buff) While playing as ranged I am getting a fair few kills with dbash + bolter although I am getting killed by melee's that are rolling out of the way before the dbash lands and then running me out of stamina to roll out of there range before they backstab me (I do seem to recall the game being a roll-a-thon in early access so maybe we are going a bit backwards if that is a winning strategy again)
Except all those times where I managed to sneak up on people at a cap point as a jpa and remove their overwatch. I geuss killing three people in rapid succession isn't helping the guy down below cap the point is it.
Nope I just started playing a jpa after the patch and it was pretty easy mode again. Died more from my own team shooting me. Its easy to go ham again and just yolo into crowds with 4 fuel and tie them up/ get kills. Pre patch melee required more thought and was more strategic. Now its heading back towards the kinda play that saw us having 50% teams filled with jpa.
That's definitely helping! But that scenario only exists when the enemy team isn't covering their flank.
Even then I still act as a distraction. If 5 people start shooting at me while I'm zoidberging around they sure aren't shooting anyone else.
