A Way To Incorporate Seals And Upgrades.

Discussion in 'Off-Topic Discussions' started by Sgt-Centurius, Dec 15, 2013.

  1. Rather than have the basic mmo or fps upgrade mechanics why not have something with slightly more depth and meaning to add realism to the game.

Players dont simply respawn apon death, instead, have an injury system were friendly players can drag you to safety so you can be patched up. If you bleed out, you die...end off! Have your survivability be just as important as killing enemies and earn rewards based on the time you stay alive...battle survival earns rewards and promotions. If you die in combat you start from scratch again...any of you that have played DayZ will understand the importance of this concept.

Not only will it add a more realistic feel to the game it will also stop the usual fragfest that go's on in most run of the mill games. It makes battles, playing, winning, surviving so much more important....this could also help determine a chain of command, the higher a players decorated, the more respect he/she earns.

Survival in warhammer 40k where people die like flies left and right, with hundreds shooting and throwing grenades as well as using vehicles and bombardment with snipers everywhere, dying will be a daily activity, so no thank you.

Realism were it is fun and this is not fun.
  3. Lol thats War for you!!!

What better feeling can you get knowing that your in a proper battle and every move and decision you make will be life or death, heart pounding, hands shaking realism. Obviously armour types etc could come into play as well as battlefield medics etc and dragging injured or downed team mates to the saftey of cover would encourage more player interaction and squad importance.

When you die your character could respawn aboard a cruiser or homeworld, guild HQ but be stripped of any new ranking and upgrades gained during that battle.

This would certainly make a more interesting and tactical based battle with those epic last stands and heroic wins

If i want proper battle i can go play a cod game or battlefield.

Ranks will be pointless anything of the kind is extremely pointless, because the possibility of you staying alive is slim extremely slim, i am talking about 1 guardsmen vs the hive fleet sort of slim survival chance.

progression will be pointless as well, who in their rightful mind would lvl them self to be able to requisition a terminator and once he uses that terminator he is slow and will be a prime target for everyone to target, anyone who has gotten them self progressed to be able to spawn a predator tank is going to get screwed once they focus target.

Warhammer 40k is not about survival it is about war, dying fighting and more fighting in epic war.

Warhammer 40k is not 100% realistic in war, a bolter round from a SM is more then enough to take down any ork boyz, they use explosive tips on their ammo, to bad for those realistic unarmored orks.

The Dev team has spoken up they want long TTK in an MMO game with RPG elements where you progress and unlock your way up in a tree, you will be able to see for how many campaigns a person has been in through his rank and his looks, your idea defeats this porpuse, the battlefield is Planetside 2 big with hundreds of players out there and people in planetside 2 no matter how skilled you may be you might be able to kill hundreds of players in one day but you will die your self "Once" that day, is it from an overkill by a tank or a pissed of group annoyed with you.

    Not feasible.

Lol!! thats not 40k for you, have you read the lore?
  5. Lmfao COD and BF are console friendly fragfests and in no way resemble a true sense of battle.
People i.e. Gamers, nowadays want something different and something that breaks away from the typical run of the mill spawn, shoot, kill, die and respawn stuff thats present in almost every game....they want to feel part of the game with things like realistic sound, realistic effects and visuals, the realism of battle. Technology has come so far over the years and people want different experiences when gaming....hence why DayZ is so massively popular.

This game is crying out to be the next best thing that everyones raving about...not just a bigger version of Spacemarine.

Have you read the lore? do you know what warhammer 40k is all about?

Do you understand that chaos at some instances dont even let you die, do you know that the eldar dont die due to their soulstones? so they do not feed the chaos god slaanesh and in that case the soulstones are incorporated into their vehicles, only your body dies there, chaos can even bring you back again.

This is the realism of 40k, you talk about Dayz, its not that popular there are LOADS of other games far more popular and warhammer 40k is already unique it will give people something different.

Devs even speak out against this, that it will be true to the lore they have even hired writers from the warhammer 40k universe to write it up.

Did you know space marines are superhuman soldiers with high regenerative capabilities and armour to top?

Your idea is not feasible, from lore perspective, from game balancing perspective and from dev designer choice perspective.

40k is the last place where I'd look for realistic battles.
    Bottomline: No.
    This isn't a horror-survival game like DayZ, this is a warhammer 40k mmo/tps/rpg.

Yes, death shoudn't be a slap on the wrist, but what you are asking for is non-sensical.

I also want to point out that DayZ isn't famous for it's realistic depiction of warfare. It's famous because of the breath of fresh air it gave zombie-survival. Its even on the name of the game.
  8. Yes I read the lore lol but rapid unlimited life respawns are not featured in any of the books ive read!!!

And im not saying make this a DayZ version of 40k, all im saying is incorporate the death, injury, drag player system thats in it.

    No.
You advocate rewarding survival. This will only promote camping and afking. It works in DayZ because it's a allvsall game. Warhammer40k will have 4 factions, one will just need to park his character in a conquered base away from the frontline and go take a nap. Thats not considering the fact that each faction will probably have safezones in each map.

You advocate beginning from scratch each time you do. What do you mean? Lose all of your skills and ranking?
Or do you mean losing equipment you had on you.

You advocate dragging injured players and patching them up. It's already in.
  10. What I was meaning was gaining items, upgrades, gear rewards for your fighting performance and participation in a battle, if you survive the battle you keep the items, if you die then you lose them...however to stop players camping etc in order to keep gear, you could have a "back in the fight" timer to force players to participate in the battle or risk loosing gear.

Its just suggestions guys....im not bashing.
