A Treatise on Loadout Point Costs: Armor

    But does that account for the bonus of mobility which the Eldar can leverage and actually is arguably the best counter to the power weapons?
  2. No one runs from Power Sword Light Attack spam. Not even Eldar.

    It comes for your ass with sweet sweet Slaaneshi surprise butt sex. But that's a subject for another balance debate haha.

    Please note everyone, I made a mistake when adding up the value of the Eldar Armor. Even though I said I was going to take the 120 LP value for their armor, I accidentally added the 150 LP since it was in the same sentence where I was explaining the values. Eldar still have the best value for armor, at 390 LP and 470 LP, but not quite as much. And the 390 LP value could go either way, depending on how you valued the Toughness.

    Please keep in mind, the value of the armor is not the final stats the character has, but what the armor actually gives. This is important because LSM and CSM have a different starting armor value than the other races. Orks also have the +30 HP over other factions, but this wasn't relevant in my calculations since the different armors do not modify the HP stat.

    Maybe once locked in melee range but outside that there is little stopping an Eldar turning on heel and hoofing it, never mind longer dodge distances and so on so forth to the endless infinite. The point remains there is an unseen factor which we can never fully ascribe a value to in truth. (You could use MoS as baseline but that covers one single aspect which is run speed.)
  6. I'm not. Unfortunately you completely missed the point. They still don't have "the best LP armor value" nor "best deal on armor". For 400 pts they still get worse armour.
    So no, I'm not the one twisting or deceiving.

    It appears you did not read the full initial post. Please re-read and see where I analyzed each part of the armors. The base stats are largely irrelevant. Items should have their cost dependent on what they provide, not the final value.

    I start with 1 HP and buy a piece of armour to bring me to 101HP and you start at 99HP and buy a piece of armour to bring you to 102 armour, you got the better armour, right? That's what you're saying.

    Not as an extreme example as I would have used, but you grasp what I'm trying to explain to him. Here is how I like to think of it:

    @Wenceslaus
    An LSM starts with 120 Armor. He buys an item that gives 30 Armor for a total of 150.
    An Eldar starts with 100 Armor. He buys an item that gives 40 Armor for a total of 140.
    Which item is better/should cost more?

  10. Both Relic and Advanced DA armors give an equal number of total points, just spread diferent.

    LSM 20 armor, 35 toughness - 55 points
    Eldar 25 Armor 30 Toughness - 55 points

    Are you valuing Armor points at a higher LP premium than Toughness?
