I'll keep it brief. What is the current role of JPAs? I'm talking about how they are supposed to actually engage. Are they assassins/disruptors/ambushers? That would explain the durability and requirement to never go in frontally. But what about the "everyone on the planet sees you, because you've used jump/jet pack"? Thing is, if you want to keep JPAs showing up on minimap when they use their mobility tools, beef up their durability, because even noobs can spot and shoot them. If you want to keep them squishy, then WHY you made it so hawks appear on the map when they fly instead of making JPAs invisible? The latter already have slam indicator and rather obvious sound warning, while 100% of hawks survivability and usefulness critically depends on getting into advantageous position WITHOUT getting the attention of whole opponents team instantly. While melee JPAs are actually able to close in on the ground and engage with a jump slam, hawk is completely unable to have that kind of disruption and its disruption relied on shooting from not so obvious angle, not to force a marine to 180 no scope instakill the hawk before he even gets where he needs to be(flight is much muuuuch slower then it used to be, you need to be exceptionally challenged player to not hit a hawk with a bolter during flight) I personally can't see JPAs & Hawks being able to fulfill their intended role with current stats and minimap visibility disadvantage at all, so I'd like to hear your opinions on the matter as well as put that questions on your mind @NoahWard
The jetpack sounds and contrails from flying are more than enough warning the light up the map part needs to go
Yes, this was a thing on the alpha. The jpa would not appear on the minimap and they went to a lot of changes, not only melee, but they normalized the life of all the classes. Now that they have less life, I agree that they should not be on the map now, because what you say.
Why go either when bolter is better? Why go either when allmost any ranged weapon on a tactical performs better, even?
The double nerf to JPA and support, on top of the buff to all ranged at the same time, seemed like a heavy handed approach.
I am an outlier then I guess I only have JPA load out with melta , plasma pistol , sword with lf and what ever reign or hp I can fit in or hawk with the nades for lol runs
Honestly, I've been having decent success with Storm Boy but they definitely need fine tuning. You shouldn't be boosting around everywhere I normally move around like I'm a slugga until I see a target then boost when I'm going to engage. By the time they notice me on the mini map I should be on top of them. I'm sure most of you boys know that but I dunno you make it sound like you're boosting around everywhere which is just asking to get shot. So, personally, I'm fine with boosting showing you on the mini map as it doesn't last long anyway. Just use it sparingly. Hawks though? I don't get why they are revealed the entire time they are flying. What they should do is make them temporarily revealed like JPA then disappear if they've been flying for a bit rather than the whole time. This way a Hawk could take off from a distance, fly in off the radar as their blip should dissipate in a few seconds, then be able to do their job as a harasser. Funny that people are hating on JPA now despite this meta being perfect for them even with their low HP. Gork got nerfed hard and Mork thrives so the assassin is the way to be. Even on ground assaults, you attack from behind or get shot to death.
I don't mind durability nerf. Thing is, without durability, ambushing is the only way to play the classes and with being visible on map the moment you press space bar, the only advantage of the class instantly goes away.
