Well I disagree (obviously) though I understand the principle of your argument. However, it's both a different connotation and terminology. Yankee has a history beyond it's use in the Revolution, from what I've looked into it goes as far back as Dutch settlers, so it's distinct to the American Northeast. Even if the English meant it as somewhat insulting, throwing it back in their face is different than truly taking it as a mantle. Making a song about it would be about the same as when in 40k Novels a Loyalist screams Traitor at a Chaos and the Chaos Marine throws it back at him with mockery. General Washington certainly didn't call his men the 1st Yankee Army, even if he probably didn't give a shit that the Brits called them Yankees. Chaos Marines still don't want Traitors within their own ranks, another irony, because they'd rather not be militarily incompetent. And all the Legions present have forged new identities, particularly Black Legion and the Word Bearers. Much like Yankee has fallen out of style(and I'm still unconvinced it was ever as prominent as you claim), so to has being just a traitor.
In some ways, yes. Although England itself is technically best represented by our football hooligans in the form of the Orks. Most Space Marine chapters bear some resemblance to various European cultures. To be honest, England is most accurately described in Warhammer, where the island of Albion is a rainswept backward hinterland wreathed in perpetual fog.
That sort of reminded of the time that a dead guy won an election in my state (he was alive when he was put on the ballot). His wife took the spot somehow. I was a kid at the time, so I didn't really ask how that was acceptable. Edit: I'm going to join in on stealing your signature for awhile. Edit2: I've never been to the Northeast US, and I'd still wear the name with pride. I'm guessing most of us would. I remember singing "I'm a yankee doodle dandy" during my first four years of elementary school in choir. It seems like it was indoctrinated into us as children. (This was in Michigan; I'm now in Kansas) Edit3: Where I'm from there are few things that are more bad ass than marines. I've always preferred that name over any of the other options.
oops wait thats right ... squats were retconned out of existance nevermind guess that vote doesnt count

If I thought I could even begin to make you understood how important oaths were in the past and how they are in 40k for Space-Knights I would, but I can't
