The Loyalist got a taunt where they call the Chaos Space Marines for "traitors" (iirc). EDIT: Well, those who are pro-Traitors are probably to intimidated by Kanthric to come forth Nice signature btw.
You kind of got a response, but not the full story. It was (briefly) discussed sending the request straight to GW, but 1) That's going around Bhvr, the people who make the game and might upset them, putting us at odds, 2) GW is a corporate giant that doesn't care about it's fans. Bhvr is easier to deal with. About people voting to keep "Traitor" You cannot shame people to vote how you want. That's the point of a vote, for people to have their say without interference. When you do crap like that you lose the legitimacy of your position. Why would people vote that way? 1) They actually don't care, and it seems easier to maintain the status quo, 2) They have taken Traitor as their own and made it a name of pride, 3) They think Traitor sounds cooler than Chaos/Space/Marine, 4) They prefer a name that differentiates the class from the faction. It's a community decision, and the reason for the vote is to make sure the community is on board with this. Speaking of, shouldn't this thread have been posted in "General Discussion" to flag more attention? I know it's about Chaos Marines, but it is a community issue, right?
I think it should stay in the Chaos sub-forum since it only concerns the Chaos faction, though they could ask they the Devs to mention it during the Stream (just post a "question" in the question thread or in the Stream announcement thread). Anyhow, we had a poll about the naming of the Eldar Pre-order Weapons too, but we kept the thread in the Eldar sub-forum (with a link in the original announcement post leading to it). The reason for this is a bit the same, because it doesn't really concern the other factions what the Eldar stuff is called, since they probably won't use it nearly as much I know this might sound a bit harsh, but I hope you catch my drift(?).
I catch it, I just don't like it. It seems shady, like we're trying to slip this through by having a closed door vote over the lunch hour, and half the invites didn't get sent out till 2 o'clock. Oh well, the mob rules.
but i think there is one more problem as the tactical of space marines are named tactical if they change the name to anything like Legionnaire, Legionary, or Marauder loyalist will say our name sounds better ..... soo they will have to change there name too
But it would be against the lore to change the name of the Tactical, since the Loyalist classes are named after their "job". Tacticals are tacticool generalists who do most of the tactical stuff (can't come up with anything better), Assualts assault, Devastators devastate and Apothecaries are apothecaries (though they also take the role as combat medics, surgeons etc.).
I disagree with the latter sentiments on several counts. For 1, despite being hosted in the Chaos subforum, the Chaos Subforum is not locked to outsiders. No one can stop them from reading threads, posting or voting here, I've also kept the voting anonymous so they can't be named and shamed for their dissent. We don't know why they vote to keep it because we don't know who they are and nobody has presented their reasons. I presume that they vote no because they like keeping the Imperial focus since my prior debates with supporters of the name gave me that impression, but I can't prove it with this data, all I can prove here is they are a small minority and they are so far unwilling to present their case (of course we know that they'd be net with debate) which implies that the issue isn't that important to them. Furthermore, it's everyone's game but it affects Chaos fans more because it's the name for our chosen faction. It simply is more of a Chaos thing than a general community thing, since we'retalking about a change to this particular faction. But as I said nothing stops anyone else from weighing in except their own proagative, so anyone who cares what Chaos gets to have as their class name is free to do so. It doesn't matter what subforum it's in if you check "What's New?".
Just to add, we're not proposing to request a change to Legionnaire, Legionary or Marauder. Those names were rejected by GW, and can be presumed dead as options. The aim here is to sound out community support for changing the name to the lore correct version, Chaos Space Marine (and, by inference, Traitor Assault to Chaos Assault). There would be no obvious reason for the loyalists to be snarky about that, and if they are, they're welcome to try to come up with something other than tactical which would pass GW's approval process, run a community poll to understand if there's enough support for it, engage with Behaviour who don't really want to change the name but might be persuaded to listen to a large and overwhelming poll, persuade them to put the alternative name to GW for approval, get GW approval for it, then implement it into the game. Y'know, just like all the crap we're expecting to have to jump through...
that was kind of the point actually lol as much as we might like a different name, the odds of both the forum actually managing to get its act together enough to convince bE that a change is required and that bE manage to convince GW the same are so minutely small .... its a lot better to just suck it up and deal with it
