There have been a lot of suggestions about this over the past year, but I had a thought I wasn't sure anyone else had had before. Please, indulge me.

Everyone starts with the usual spawn limit of 1 veteran.

When a point is taken for the first time everyone gets 1 more vet spawn in addition to the extra 5 minutes added to the clock.

This means that both attackers and defenders can spawn again as a vet to press the attack harder or dig in their heels to hold their ground. Getting new vet lives is a team effort for the attackers and the extra vet lives defenders get makes it harder to dig them out of a controlled point.

A possible addition to this idea is that the vet lives can stack up within a match, meaning that if you didn't use your vet and a point is captured you now have 2 vet lives and so on to a maximum of 4 vet lives on zedek, blackbolt, medusa, olipsis, pegasus and torias. 3 on maggon. 2 on harkus, agnathio, and ronan (though I have toyed with the idea of giving people 2 vets for each of the first points on those because fortress maps) It also means if your vet gets team killed there's usually a way to get another. However the vextra lives do not carry between matches. You start with 1 every match.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Scandalously slanderous comments? I await any response you might have.

Personally I like the idea of having more Veteran lives I'm just worried what will happen if it starts getting stacked. Particularly if you know you're going to get another life after capping/losing a point.

The idea is decent enough; allows people to use their veterans more but I want to see options to use veterans because in my opinion they're just... lacking. I kinda wish there was more to veterans overall than just nicer looking +400 LP units. In all honesty I would prefer a veteran be transformed into the 'Squad Leader' only position or something because I stopped playing my Vet due to usually being focused on close quarters (and thus usually dying withing 3-4 minutes if now 3-4 seconds if I'm unlucky)

This just leads to harder pub stomps by cordinated. A full spawn of vets can zerg a point knowing that they have a free vet on the way later.

Also heavily favors attackers. Defenders shouldn't be trying to spread thin and retake for points when time bonuses are way more important to the team. Plus this would cause people to pish selfishly for an un needed point just for their own vet. Lastly there is no incentive for players without vets unlocked to go for these bonus lives to the detriment of the team.

Personally I think if people want more vet time the best way is longer bleedout time. It focuses more on teamplay but still gives the other side a chance at bonus points that get denied a lot. Also would mean a good support player is more important to just heal nade spams mackenzee. Also vets could have a removal of the revive from down state so they can actually save themselves if a support gives their life to bring them back.

Would squad leaders becoming veterans just lead to everyone starting up their own squad though? The last thing we need is more 2 man squads.

And why does the lives being stacked worry you? Specifically I mean. If they're getting stacked it means they aren't getting used, but if they are getting used you've got at most 4 veteran lives stacked up at once.

Stacked lives would lead to possible unfun matches on the recieving end. It would also lead to even more ohk weapons being used. You think kannons are bad now? Wait until the entire enemy team goes kannon because you all started as vets.

In all honesty vets just aren't healthy for the game outside of in game earnings. They could go the doom route with demons and have a random relic pickup in a neutral area shrine to create in game bonus objectives.

  7. No offense my friend but surely you can visualize various methods to prevent this silly type of exploiting.

Require at least 5 players per squad for this mechanic to be able to kick in, the 6th player being squad leader(Sergeant/Veteran). A two player squad would get NOTHING. If the squad breaks up or players leave the squad and the squad drops below 6 players the Sergeant/Veteran dies and has to redeploy standard loadouts.

Take it a step further give squad with 10 players a Captain(Elite) level character as the squad leader and a Sergeant(Veteran).

I can see some your point on the zerging knowing you'll get a vet, but the idea on the first take giving a life applies to both teams. The defenders won't spread themselves thin trying to get another life because they'll have already gotten it when the attackers take a point, taking it back doesn't yield any further vet spawns. And denying the opponent another vet life along with a time bonus makes defending a point even more important than before. As for no incentive for players without vets...well...winning?

I could see that. But it would lead to a lot less people being able to use the vets they grinded out for.

Thought you meant defenders had to RETAKE to get the life. I miss read earlier.

Either way it just turns into too many vets on the battlefield making OHK weapons even more important.

Tbh I really think vets needto be unique. Either pickups after fighting for secondary objectives or weaker stat wise but with side grade options wargear wise. Like say, a jump assault with better wall hang, lightning claws, and better fuel regen but the same durability on a 5 minute cooldown starting on death with a 2 minute delay from match start.
