I'm playing an Ork Loota against Chaos Space Marines. I'm slowly creeping up to one of their points, careful not to rush out into a situation that'll get me killed before I can react (cause everyone's made out of tissue paper). I get in sight of the point and see some enemies, I rake the area with my Plasma Chompa (cause I can't afford the 40k req to buy any other gun and HAD to use RTP's) and drop some enemies. Three marines pop up right in front of me and I jump back into the hallway, back-pedaling. They rush me down and I D-Bash, managing to stun all three of them (wut?!) and just shoot point-blank into them. What situation is the game in when a player is in a 3v1 situation, caught with their pants down, and in a tactical situation which benefits the enemy AND STILL COME OUT ON TOP!? This just crazy! The balance of everything is out the window, there's enough grind here to make me want to go play World of Warcraft, and the mechanics just don't seem to work. That is all, carry on.
Plasma cannon is really powerful. The dbash shouldn't allow ranged users to use it and then keep shooting. (I have been doing it as well, because it's there.)
No, this IS a balance issue. There were three VERY LARGE points against me: I was out-numbered 3 to 1. They had the drop on me and were in melee range before I had time to react. They were attacking in melee range vs a class that shouldn't be able to hold in melee by design. What was my advantage? I did the only thing I could try to do to do damage before I died: I spent all my stamina trying to get out and defend myself. And I won. I feel like I brought a knife to a gun fight where the three guns were teaming up against me. And I somehow came out on time. The fact that I won that actually upsets me. And further, even when a Assault/Raptor/other melee class gets the drop on me and puts me down to 50% hp, I can usually face them, D-Bash and shoot at them until they die/retreat. It feels like there's no sense of balance with the heavy weapon classes.
Oh boy, you need to go and play with a heavy bolter if you haven't already, and you may be far more upset than you are now.
Powerful, I'm not sure, but I'd still urge you to have a go and then come back to this thread and report your findings - I'd be interested in the results/answer at least.
People still falling for the Dbash? I mostly spam strong attack with my chainsword or do one fast attack to bait people into the Dbash then I just dodge or give them a strong one. This works most of the time.
The issue with that is that every Strong attack I've seen as a 2-year wind-up time. I feel like you have to be brain-dead (or unaware of the attacker) to get hit by a Strong attack. Heck, even if you just move normally, you avoid it.
