As in DO read the death watch books about Talon company but DON'T read...damnit I can't think of the name now...I'm sure plenty of people can provide great examples of don't reads. PS Dan Abnett needs to finish his currently running series!!! I wanna know how they end damnit!

Well, to answer this question you have to collect almost all of wh40k rulebooks and codices - only then some light can be shed on this mystery
Surprisingly, I still find this thread not being locked and I'm pleased - perhaps @Asheru has read almost all of wh40k books and knows whether a Phoenix Lord can beat an ork warboss?
It depends on the Warboss. Head to head a basic warboss would lose to most of the Phoenix Lords. But it also depends on the PL that is fighting. Jain Zar will butcher a basic Warboss in CC due to disarm while Baharroth would not fair as well once he got into CC. There are a number of variables that could determine the outcome. But there are also warbosses like Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka due to his Lord of War status that could beat the PLs. So it just kind of depends.
