So I noticed earlier today on the UAT map that the banners change immediately once the attackers take the first point. that got me thinking: What if when a faction takes control of a point on the map the area that point influences changes to suit the ones in control? I'm not certain how but I'd say something like Eldar erecting shield barriers, Orks adding metal shards to windows to prevent vaulting, etc. Any suggestions on how the factions might alter the capture zones?
I think I remember hearing the devs mention a similar concept way back in alpha. The longer a faction held on to an outpost(back when open world was the plan) the more influence from that race would show there. I personally think it's a cool aesthetic idea, but I'm not sure what purpose it would serve in the game now considering it's already easy to tell who controls a point thanks to the giant colored spheres above capture points and the red or blue markers visible from anywhere on the map. Also the game performs so badly at this point that I fear trying to add rapidly changing visuals in the area around capture points may just break it.
We already have some pure cosmetic stuff related to owner faction At least I think I saw some ork stuff slapped over the imerpial stuff on some maps But giving gameplay advantage depending on its owner is a nice idea But it has to serve the usual tactic of the faction And before we can have this we need the factions to be more different in tactics
Honestly, I'm still waiting for those kind of features to be available in the actual TT model range. We live in a world where humans are the only species that actually build fortifications, and every other race has to steal them
Then call up GeeDubs, make them steal back something like this: Whenever I see Eldar taking an Imperial Aegis and an Imperial Icarus Turret (which isn't uncommon; there's this one exploit with the Dark Reaper Exarch...) I cringe a little
Bonesingers are not comming to this planet yet we need to secure location, but we might deploy our energy shields
I think this is a nice idea. Going even further, it might be a gameplay element in itself. For example the Eldar shields, put some fixed positions around the cap point where players can errect those. Should take a couple of seconds and have a mechanic similar to capping a point (hold E, a melee attack will stop you from what you're doing). Some nice animations while doing so would be the icing on the cake. Edit: Thought about xposting to the suggestions thread, but I can't find it anymore. What happend @ KatieFleming ?
Suggestion forum is long gone and was also only for suggestions about the forum not the game General discussion forum is fine for suggestions
Ah I see... well, maybe then we should have a suggestion thread for the game, so constructive ideas can be pulled out of the salt for the devs to see.
