Me and a couple've other people were discussing a new mode to suggest for the game, and I didn't know where to put it, other than, well, general discussion. The long and short of it, is a mode based on smaller outposts in a region occupied by NPCs. Not Tyranids, though, the respective lessers of each race. Guardsmen, Ork boyz, Cultists, Eldar guardians. In this mode, there would be five on each team, the defenders, and attackers, which use regular classes. The defenders, and the NPC guards of the outpost (Which would be a relatively small map, nothing like the fortresses we currently fight over.) need to defend three points, as usual. The attackers (Whether they should have NPCs or not is up for debate) must take the points, and unlike the defenders, have access to transport vehicles, but no tanks were spared for what should be a small assault, on a small, unimportant location, for a small section of land. In addition to being an interesting small match between two small squads and the poor souls in between, it also adds to the feeling, that we, or at least the factions, are the best of the best, and really outshine the other members of their races. Discuss. (Discussion changed to how NPC Tyranids can be integrated into regular/special missions)
Maybe if the numbers are unbalanced 'nids could pop up and nom on the overpopulated side? Heard/read about this somewhere. Or generally 'nids showing up on maps sometimes and attacking both sides. Instead of "Yeah, easy thing, this point is ours!" "Yeah, we got...oh shit, WARRIOR INCOMING!" or "Hey, we can hold this no problem...aaaah, should have kept my bloody mouth!"
Maybe we should link some people here? @Oveur @BrentEllison @MichaelChan However, this feature is confirmed already, so the following would just be ideas on the basis of "it will happen". In terms of offering ideas as to "make it happen", maybe every minute there could be a 20% chance of spawning a large wave at specified spawn points? Pipes or wall-holes would be escellent for such points. Think about it: You try to force your way through the pipes into the fortress and find all defenders nommed, only to be ambushed by gaunts yourself. Would be awesome and fuel for tension. And it could create contemporary "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" situations when both sides have to work together to not get completely overrun only to turn on each other afterwards.
There was talk of the latter coming around the time the last road map dropped. Now as much as I like the Twitches and planned content posts, this is what I hate about them as well. They mention certain things one week and get everyone hyped and then silence and then make you feel bad/silly for even asking if they are still on the agenda.
Even possible static nids that are lurking in the pipes until greater forces arrive, so that trying the sneaky way in is a potentially fatal mistake.
