    Welcome :D

Orks are a good choice to play they will be the most fun by far. I'm playing Eldar and seeing as the vast majority of the community are largely ignorant about them (due to the vast amounts of Spess Mehrine skewed "lore" out there) I thought I'd drop abit of basic info on the Eldar for you.

The Eldar warriors belong to Aspects. Each Aspect has a certain role on the battlefield to which they are highly specialised. This means that the key to success for the Eldar is coordinated operations, "winging it" will just mean you become a smear of aloof blood.

    The Aspects in EC are:

Striking Scorpions: melee, stealth, relatively heavy armour.

Howling Banshee: melee, shock troops (has a scream that stuns the enemy when they charge), light armour.

Fire Dragons: Heavy armour, short range anti tank/heavy troop thermal weapons.

Dark Reapers: Heavy armour, long range anti infantry.

Swooping Hawks: Jump/Flight troop, light armour, can drop grenades in flight, medium range, infantry harasser.

Dire Avenger: Most generic troop type of the Eldar, medium range, medium armour.

Warlock (not technically an Aspect): melee, powerful pysker, special armour, badass.

The terminator equivalent for Eldar is the Wraithguard. It's a "robotic" construct animated by a dead Eldar warrior that either fires blackholes at you with a Wraithcannon or rips out your soul with a D-Scythe.

Eldar tanks are all hover tanks (Planetside 2 basically copied the design for its Vanu tanks) in EC the variants available are (best guess):

Fire prism: Long range, anti Tank/Heavy troop/infantry (depends on what setting the Prism cannon is set to).

Wave serpent: light weaponry, troop carrier.

Everything the Eldar have is FAST (despite not all of it being red:confused:). There will be a load of "Spess Elves" comments after this, because that’s what Mehrine players are like, but a month or so after release everyone is going to be rolling a Eldar character because we've got the best stuff (or a Ork character because they will be daft fun).

Ps. The aspect we all want but isn't in EC is the Warp Spider. A heavy armour, teleporting, short range, anti infantry. As you can imagine it would be quite hard to implement ingame.

Welcome to the forums m8! :D

RP'ing and writing your own backstory is all good but I don't think many guilds in this game that want to RP would like this much it isn't very "canon friendly"

Basically every race in 40k is a racist! They trust no one... Except Tau they don't mind you tagging along for the greater good. If you want to continue with the same story line you have created it might be best that you swap the elder for Tau.

Thundarius linked Vaults of Terra on YouTube which goes into a lot of detail in the 40K universe.

After looking through the vaults of Terra you might even feel like rewriting your background story :)

EDIT: PS - Check out the 40k wiki
Prolly best to start with the Imperium of man and the story behind the Emperor of Mankind.
    http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Imperium_of_Man
    http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/The_Emperor

This sets the scene and once you are done with those you can then read up on the Orks.

    Hope it all helps.

You should seriously think about praying to the Machine God instead of building everything from scrap
