Kato cursed violently in a fashion most unbefitting a Chaplain of the Angels of Death. Word had just come in the the defenses were breached everywhere. Orks had the city surrounded and were slowly moving in through the city, pillaging as they came; Eldar of all kinds had been reported multiple times and in great number; Tau had been spotted all over the damn city; and there had been more then a few reports concerning what might have been traitor Astartes of some sort. The Salamanders were many things, but they were not fools. Outnumbered ten times over by Xenos and heretics, almost ten percent casualites among the Astartes, and with well over half the civilian populace still alive, the Sons of Vulkan could not afford a prolonged "war", if such a rout could be called such. Ordering all Imperial Troops left in the city, as well as all remaining civilians, to fall back to the Bascilica of the Emperor Incarnate, the Salamanders swiftly made a fighting retreat to the new defense line. Arriving almost an hour after the order was given, the Astartes quickly set up temporary defenses as they worked to achieve their remaining goal. Evacuation. With Bray'arth, the Governer, and the majority of the world's relics and worthies having safely teleportated aboard the Wyrmfire, all that was left was the civilians. Ferrying the citizens of th world to the orbiting ship, the Salamanders' Thunderhawks made trips in pairs of two to reduce the chances of destruction, although it hampered the swiftness of the proceedings greatly. As Kato watched the second wave of Thunderhwaks take off, the veteran could only hope it would be enough.. ((Alright folks, I'm withdrawing. I simply was not prepared for the number of enemy forces, or how alone my Sallies would be. I was expecting an Orkish Waaagh!, some Tau, and maybe a few Eldar and Chaos. Instead, i got lots of Orks, Tau everywhere, Chaos popping out of every grate, and a direct portal to Cammorragh. As much fun as it's been, it's simply gotten far too busy, far too unorganized, and far too big for a lone fifty Salamanders to handle. Regardless, thenks for the fun, and good luck!))
((Thanks for playing You could, of course, bring in reinforcements. There's no limit to what anyone could bring in, just so you know. There's a lot of people, but just imagine it like Dawn of War. Big campaign, with all the main fighting taking place in the capital. Feel free to push back, or engage in some space-ship shenanigans. All's fair in war, and all that.))
(Maybe set up shop on another spot on the planet? Reinforce an unassaulted Hive, call for Imperial Guard reinforcements, and once you have the area around this cluster battle contained, move in to purge them? Hell, You could try containing the Eldar, see about destroying that Warp Gate to prevent more Eldar forces from getting onto the planet. Or see about trying to hunt down the Warboss and kill him, making for alot of infighting and chaos among the greenskin forces. Or focus on hunting down the taint of chaos before it spreads. As astartes, you get the luxery of choosing where to strike, no need to counter the entire armies of invaders, just hit at the weakpoints and wait for the Hammer of the Emperor to do the rest.)
((Hrm... That is certainly an interesting idea.. Can't call in much more in the way of Salamanders, Nocturne was wreaked but three decades before, and then there was several wars (including Armageddon) almost immediately afterwards. Salamanders don't have many Astartes to spare at this point.. Perhaps just the rest of Second Company and some Minotaurs, grab *Capital* Secundus... Might be fun..))
((Not to mention all of the IG and Sisters you could command simply by being there. I haven't seen a single soul RPing actual IG, so, go for broke, homie.))
Rounds chewed at the ferrocrete as the Iron Warriors of squad Scourge Primus moved from cover to cover, hoping to bridge the gap between them and the Imperial Fists devastator. "Situation report, now!" Thalias boomed into the vox. "Rotarn took a shot to his right arm and can't fire his bolter." "I can still use my bolt pistol!" "Noted. What else?" "Scanning the area, this is the last defensible area. Beyond this point, there is no safety from the heavy bolter fire." Things looked grim. With the devastator still alive, the loyalist forces could still hold the base, even with cultist and daemon reinforcements coming from the sewers. Thalias thumbed at his grenades. "Brothers. Give me covering fire. Get his attention." Thalias moved from his position to the edge of the barricade. He counted down to zero in his head. In a split second, he was at full sprint towards the guard tower. Before the Imperial Fists marine could notice, rounds exploded around him as the Iron Warriors taunted everything he cherished. Slurs to his chapter, his primarch, and even the emperor. His rage roared within him as he unleashed everything the machine spirit of his bolter would let out. Underneath him, Thalias had punched a hole in the guard tower's base and deposited all of his grenades. After a brief silence, explosions rocked the courtyard. The devastator found himself losing his footing as the tower collapsed underneath him. As the smoke cleared, the marine dropped his bolter and felt a sharp pain in his chest. In front of his eyes, he found himself impaled on a metal beam. He coughed blood into his helmet, distorting his view. Struggling to pull himself free, he saw a dark figure walk slowly toward him. "Where is your emperor and primarch now?" "He...*cough*...is with us always, traitorous dog!" "I felt that way once, back when I was naive and blind. A shame it's too late for you." "Do-...don't you dare mock me!" Thalias unsheathed his knife. The blade glimmered as though it had never tasted blood. The Imperial Fists marine looked in shock at the hilt of the knife. He gasped at the sight of the Iron Fists icon. "You-...!" His voice cut off by the cold caress of steel into his throat. In a swift motion, the blade was withdrawn, taking the loyalist's last moments of life. "Squad! Prepare for final phase of operation. See to Galton's body, search for stragglers, and secure the perimeter. Cultists will be here soon to establish a forward base." Thalias' squad quickly went about their orders. "Mission accomplished, Warsmith. Only one casualty." "Excellent as ever. I shall make preparations for the end game. I leave you in command of the new outpost." "Understood. Iron within. Iron without."
@BerserkerofKhorne The stealth team are just behind the CSM's, visible to them, that's how. The stealth-team, seeing Bruticus's squad getting distracted saw it was now or never. Reading their Fusion Blasters, they aimed it al the six of them, and pressed the trigger, not knowing what would happen. They would simply use thier jetpacks and run away. ((Will go more on it later))
"SALAMANDERS! Lorius, Captain of the 4th Company of the Ultramarines speaking, we just arrived with a single Strike Cruiser, Ultramar has replied to this danger, but it took us longer than anticipated in the Warp! Regroup at this coordinations, we will deploy immediately with Drop Pods!" Lorius barked through the Vox-Channel that was opened to all Imperial channels through the system of the Vae Victus. The Coordinations that were sent to the Salamanders were right behind the lines of the Ork Tide, in the very back a squad deployment of his Devastators planned while Squad Lorius was the front line, along with 2 Squads of Tactical Marines, each led by his trustful Seargents Gard and Tysane. "Courage and Honour, 4th Company!" He yelled through the Ultramarine Vox Channel as the Drop-Pods were launched and the Vae Victus started to aim right into the heart of the Ork Flood, timed with the arrival of the Ultramarines. ((to make this chaos perfect the long anticipated Ultramarines finally arrived, as proposed on page 3... or something))
