40k Levels

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Sledgecrushr, Nov 19, 2013.

  1. Ok guys this might seem a little radical but here it is. I played eq and I got to the level cap after about a year of play. I played wow and got to the level cap after about 6 months of play.

My idea really is to have a level cap that cant be achieved. A level cap set at 40,000 would make for years of gameplay and a great way to define apersons experience. Any thoughts?

I don't know if levels would work at all in this game to be honest, I would rather see a specialisation tree for each class. Something you work towards and then choose after you have reached a certain xp point. If anyone played Star Wars Galaxies before they changed the game will know what I mean.
Example. If I play as a tactical marine then after a certain amount of xp or kills, maybe I can choose to have a combi weapon. Further on, bionics to increase health or toughness. Maybe a power weapon or grenades. Maybe a flamer ?
40000 lvls, I think we would need to be real Astartes to live long enough to reach that cap ;)
  3. something like this would be good so someone can see "oh that was a very experienced player that killed me"

so just make meaningless ranks which show others how experienced youa re with the game ^^

No levels here, I think, only unlocking the loadout options.

If by any chance there are levels.

It should be meaningless rank up only, just showing experience.
    Ahremer likes this.

I'd prefer bitz and gubbinz you can get for your hero: a flashy helmet, or a battle standard, or a badge of some kind in local, something to distinguish you. Meaningless levels just seem... meaningless.

That's a fantastic idea, especially if these rewards were race specific. Example, kill 1000 marines and you get to hang a space marine helmet off your belt. Kill enough Orks and wear a string of their teeth.
  8. To my knowledge there are no "levels"

no meaningless ranks. viewable player stats, aesthetic rewards, and strikeforce related titles.
  10. Yeah I can see that in a game where you can get killed by a new player almost as easily as a veteran wbere levels might seem to be unimportant. In reality other than predetermined equipment unlocks leves done mean hardly anythin in a game like cod or battlefield. But for a mmo where hopefully a company can keep a large playerbase in their game for many years then a virtual unlimited level system should make sense.

If there are no levels then this is all kind of a moot point anyways.
