1Orky Size and Camera Height

    The fact that the reticle comes for the wrong place implies that they copied some part of the Space marine model to create the ork ones faster. (this is actually pretty common) It would also explain why the ork animations are super buggy and dont execute properly. This problem is so obvious that they must be working on it already. I do remember in beta that CSM were buggy in the same way, but they seem to be fixed now.

    I know my Ork is Flash, but I don't need him to take up half my screen when I'm trying to fight. Mork! I hadn't realized just how bad it was until I saw the comparison! Da Meks need ta fix dis up sharpish!

    Another month another neglected camera :OrkGoff:

    So after yet another game of outrageously bad cover/camera interactions and magnetic cover grabbing my controls I sat down and compared the Ork pov again. Not. Bloody. Happy.

    Fair/fun fight. Eventually too frustrated over trying to get a fire angle so I gave up and went melee ham (Gork approved :OrkMoon:).

    Anyone who plays Orks knows that they uniquely cannot fire over low cover without being in-cover. Every other Faction can shoot us without having to go through the sticky cover transition and fire downwards at a much steeper angle (think how little of a Swooping Hawk you see when they're firing down from a roof top).

    Also means the cover transition is much more jarring for Orks and that's what you see throughout the vid where the game steals my mouse control and throws the crosshair up every time I'm near cover.

    After measuring and comparing it doesn't make sense to me. The following are generated from screencaps using Eldar Dire Avenger, Chaos Traitor and Ork Shoota taking the smallest step out of sticky cover, then comparing just how much they can see over the low cover.

    Takeaway: Ork camera pixel height is set far too low.

    Eldar/SM weapons fire from 35° lower than the Ork, well below their fire horizons. I have no idea why. Only thing I can think is that it's either for visual flavour (bulky Ork takes up more screen), something about Orks being less visible outside of cover (i.e shorter) or just an oversight.

    This is almost certainly why Ork grenades rebound off low cover without fail.

    Yeah the weird camera for the shoota boy is the reason I don't play Orks as much as the others races, but when I do play ork it's generally a slugga boy since their camera isn't as bad.

    They need to get around to fixing the camera asap.

    They really do, it's a severe hindrance on multi-tier cap rooms like Pegasus, Zedek & Maggon.

    This could be related, as i only seem to get it. (Or notice it, when i play Orls) Being shot behind cover? I think it's something to do with like- the depth of the ork model, allowing our shoulders to be hit, as i don't seem to get it on the other factions. (Which would indicate latency.)

    Yes, from both stances.

    I've noticed that even behind cover ( especially from the leaning forward one, not sitting down ) you get shot VERY easily.

    I have to say that while it affects orks more than others, cover blows in this game. It stops you from shooting mid shooting if you happen to move around it in the wrong way, it has unpredictable move patterns when you jump in and out from behind it and it changes your camera angle unexpectedly. It is like they originally wanted this game to be like Gears of War and then changed design half way through and left what they had there. Can be extremely frustrating.

    I would rather they just completely remove the cover system. AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GET RID OF MY CURSOR MOVING WHEN THE GAME WANTS TO TELL ME I CANT SHOOT AT A SPECIFIC POINT!!!

    And while we are on the ork thing. The flame that erupts from the shoota's chamber blinds me if I move to the left. Like it obscures what I am shooting at and makes it more difficult to aim, but if I move to the right, my body/ the gun moves over the flame and I can see. Kind of irritating and it gets on my strafing groove.
