I hardly use 40k forums so i don't know to much about the community as a whole. But i have a feeling that a lot of people like myself are just really excited about this game and just want to talk about it.

Indeed, according to the devs their engine/server they're using can go beyond 1k, but they haven't enough players to see what the maximum amount is.
